Education and Experience:
Dr. John H. Schneider is a board certified neurosurgeon who obtained his pre-medical and medical degree at the University of Southern California, graduating Cum Laude and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He attended the LA County General Hospital – USC internship and residency training program, culminating in both a Spinal Fellowship and junior faculty position as Chief Resident in 1992. Dr. Schneider began a four year active duty Air force tour as an attending and staff neurosurgeon at the world renowned Wilford Hall Medical Center for the United States Air Force. He then relocated to the Northern Rockies in 1996 where he developed one of the largest neurosurgical practices in Montana, performing thousands of brain and spinal surgeries. While Chairman of the Northern Rockies Neurological Foundation, Dr. Schneider’s work was recognized by academic institutions. Dr. Schneider believes all successful physicians should return to an educational institution to teach the next generation of younger surgeons in training. Dr. Schneider committed to one year as an Assistant Professor in Utah as Director of the Neuro-Spine Degenerative Section of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University, completing this time and then returning to the Northern Rockies region in the summer of 2004, developing the Northern Rockies Neuro-Spine Center. Dr. Schneider was the first to establish the standards for minimally invasive spinal surgeries in this region. Dr. Schneider strongly supports every patient’s desire to remain close to their family and community support groups during their care and has worked with hospital and surgery center administration receptive to Spine Specialty facilities, unencumbered by the politics of middle sized institutions who remain understaffed and over burdened. Dr. Schneider will only admit his patients to medical facilities he trusts and has chosen hospitals in Powell and Cody, Wyoming and Outpatient Surgical Centers in Cody and Sheridan, Wyoming as meeting these standards for quality patient care and where there is dedication to successful patient outcomes. Rest assured Dr. Schneider and his staff at Northern Rockies Neuro-Spine as well as the medical facilities and associate physicians working with Dr. Schneider have a single mission: to shepherd each patient successfully and carefully through the complex maze of medical tests and surgical services and return them to a happy, productive and pain free lifestyle. We are here to serve you.
